IDShot
IDShot turns a photo on your iPhone into a JPEG that the DS-160 / CEAC photo upload accepts. It checks your photo against the published technical specs, tells you exactly what's off, and fixes the file for you — all on your device.
What IDShot checks
Seven checks, following the U.S. Department of State digital image requirements:
- Square image (1:1)
- 600×600 to 1200×1200 pixels
- JPEG format
- 240 KB or smaller
- 24-bit sRGB color
- Head size within the frame
- Plain, light background
File checks are fixed automatically by cropping, resizing and re-encoding. IDShot never edits your face or background — the State Department rejects altered photos, so if the background isn't right, IDShot tells you why and asks you to retake.
Private by design
Your photo is processed on your iPhone and never uploaded. There is no account and no sign-in.
