How to Use Your iPhone as a Sony BRAVIA TV Remote

Use Click Cast to control a compatible Sony BRAVIA TV from your iPhone over your home network. Start with the TV switched on and connected to the same network as your phone. Compatibility and available controls depend on the model.

Setup steps

  1. Connect your iPhone and TV to the same home network. Avoid guest networks or router settings that isolate devices.
  2. Open Click Cast and allow Local Network access when iOS asks. If you previously denied it, enable it for Click Cast in iPhone Settings.
  3. Open the device list, wait for discovery, and select your Sony BRAVIA TV.
  4. When the TV displays a pairing PIN, enter that code in Click Cast. Keep the code private.
  5. Once connected, try a navigation or volume button. Available controls vary by TV; an unavailable control does not become supported by pairing again.

Troubleshooting and common questions

My Sony TV does not appear

Confirm that the TV is on and connected to the home network. Check Local Network access on your iPhone and avoid guest Wi-Fi. If your TV has settings for remote control over the network, check the model’s manual; menu names differ between models. Scan again after changing the network or permission.

The PIN is rejected or no PIN appears

Enter the code currently shown on the selected TV, rather than an old code. If pairing has ended, start again. If no code appears, check that you selected the right TV and that network remote access is allowed on that model. Contact support with your model and the step where pairing stops; do not send the PIN.

Can I use this if I lost the physical remote?

Yes, if the TV is already connected to your network and you can complete any required on-TV setup or authorization. Click Cast cannot connect an offline TV to Wi-Fi or bypass a TV permission prompt. You may need the TV’s physical buttons or another supported control to finish that setup.

Will it turn on a TV that is in standby?

Network wake depends on the TV model and its standby settings. Start setup with the TV on. If a powered-off TV is not reachable over the network, turn it on using its physical controls or remote; do not assume every model supports wake over Wi-Fi.

Remote control and casting are different

Remote pairing authorizes TV controls. Sending photos or videos uses DLNA and requires a compatible media renderer and separate TV permissions. It is not screen mirroring. If the remote works but casting does not, see the casting troubleshooting steps rather than removing a working remote pairing.
